You CAN help to save our world!

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed
citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing
that ever has.” – Margaret Mead
Global warming is very real, and is threatening our future. We began learning some time
ago about causes/contributors to global warming, and also to world degradation and
pollution in general.

We were actually shocked by what we learned.

We found out how little we are told the truth in our current society (or at least mislead),
and we began to realize what a HUGE and profitable industry it is to both destroy our
Earth and also knowingly feed you poison and chemicals that can make you sick.

If you are truly interested in saving our planet, you MUST read the following page!

It could be the most important 5-10 minutes you have ever spent!
(The most important to REALLY saving our planet, that is)

Our voices and our choices DO matter – take a stand for the planet
and for all living creatures

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, “hog, chicken and cattle waste has polluted
35,000 miles of rivers in 22 states and contaminated groundwater in 17 states.” (Click here for article)

“In China a recent shift to meat-heavy diets has been linked to increases in obesity, cardiovascular
disease, breast cancer and colorectal cancer. U.S. and World Health Organization researchers have
announced similar findings for other parts of the world.” (Time.com; Click here for article)

Empathy (em•pa•thy): The understanding of another’s feelings – the ability
to identify with and understand somebody else’s feelings or difficulties
(yes, animals ARE “somebody”)

Apathy (ap•a•thy): lack of interest, or the absence of any wish to do
anything; indifference

“Thou shalt not be a victim,
Thou shalt not be a perpetrator,
Above all,
Thou shalt not be a bystander.”
The Holocaust Museum, Washington D.C.

Albert Einstein once said: “If the bee disappears from the surface of the
earth, man would have no more than four years to live. No more bees, no
more pollination … no more men!” He wasn’t an entomologist, but
entomologists around today agree that the sudden and mysterious
disappearance of bees from their hives poses serious problems!

Are we the only ones who finds these problems both sad and scary?
Let’s fix our planet and preserve our health!

“Every single species of large wild fish from the tropics to the poles has been fished so
systematically over the past 50 years that just 10 percent of each type remains.” (Study by marine
biologists Ransom Myers of Dalhousie University in Halifax and Boris Worm of the Institute for
Marine Science in Kiel, Germany).

“…hugely inefficient use of freshwater and land, heavy pollution from livestock feces, rising rates of
heart disease and other degenerative illnesses, and spreading destruction of the forests on which
much of our planet’s life depends.” Time.com – Click here for article

FAST FACTS:
Gallons of oil spilled by the Exxon Valdez in 1989, killing sea life and polluting the water in Alaska’s Prince William Sound: 11 million gallons.
Gallons of hog excrement that spilled into North Carolina’s New River in 1995, killing river life and polluting the water: 25 million gallons.

Gallons of water needed to supply food for a meat-eater for one day: 4,200
Gallons of water needed to supply food for a vegan for one day: 300

SO, you could eat LESS meat, be somewhere in between, and still help the world!!!

The animal industry doesn’t tell you that your most of your meat and animal products have been
saturated with antibiotics and growth hormones throughout their lives, have been standing in yards of
feces and urine for long periods of time, have a range of health issues such as cancerous growths,
cysts, pustules, and/or are just sick, miserable animals.

“Dairy products are a health hazard. They contain no fiber or complex carbohydrates and are
laden with saturated fat and cholesterol. They are contaminated with cow’s blood and pus and
are frequently contaminated with pesticides, hormones, and antibiotics.” (Milk Sucks.com)

THE REASON SO MANY OF OUR ANTIBIOTICS DONT WORK: “The short answer is overuse of
antibiotics…It is livestock producers, however, who use the vast majority of antibiotics produced
in the United States. An estimated 70 percent of antibiotics and related drugs produced in this
country are used for nontherapeutic purposes such as accelerating animal growth and
compensating for overcrowded and unsanitary conditions on large-scale confinement facilities
known as “factory farms.” (Union of Concerned Scientists)

Nor do they tell you how shameful and cruel industry the animal industry is. This is NOT about
whether you eat meat or enjoy eating meat! There is no excuse to torture an animal to death for long
periods of time before they are actually slaughtered. If you get to understand issues such as gestation
crates, battery cages, forced molting, veal production, etc, then you understand just how cruel and
ignorant we are being every day. The torture and cruelty in the animal industry is what we can only
describe as unbelievable.

“Animal welfare may not yet be a major concern, but as the horrors of raising meat in
confinement become known, more animal lovers may start to react.” (New York Times Click here
for article)

“As farming has become more industrialized, animals raised for food production are treated
more like commodities than animals. They are handled as units of production, rather than living,
breathing creatures. This mechanized approach ignores animals’ needs, which often sacrifices
their health and well-being in the name of higher profits.”
(Sustainable Table.org Click here for article)

THIS IS NOT ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY, NOR COMPASSIONATE!!!

“To produce 1 lb. of feedlot beef requires 7 lbs. of feed grain, which takes 7,000 lbs. of water to
grow. Pass up one hamburger, and you’ll save as much water as you save by taking 40 showers
with a low-flow nozzle.” (Time.com; Click here for article)

“As forests are cleared to create new pastures, it is a major driver of deforestation, especially in
Latin America where, for example, some 70 per cent of former forests in the Amazon have been
turned over to grazing.” (Taken from the UN report; Click here for entire article)

Fish die by the
millions in North
Carolina’s Neuse
River Watershed,
largely as a result of
runoff from pig
factories.

“The highest realms of thought are impossible to reach without first attaining an
understanding of compassion.”
Socrates

“If one person is unkind to an animal it is considered to be cruelty, but where a lot of people are
unkind to animals, especially in the name of commerce, the cruelty is condoned and, once large
sums of money are at stake, will be defended to the last by otherwise intelligent people.”
Ruth Harrison (Animal Machines)
“It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.”
Krishnamurti

It is an important and popular fact that things are not always what they seem.
For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much – the wheel, New York, war and
so on – whilst all the dolphins had ever done is muck about in the water having a good time.
But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man – for precisely the same reasons.
Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy)

Veal:
Baby cows who have been ripped from their
mothers, are horrifically confined, poorly fed,
living in their own waste, unable to move around,
then slaughtered.

An increasing number of gourmet and world
renowned chefs are refusing to use veal in their
restaurants, recognizing it is shameful and cruel.

Read a portion of this article from the New York Times:

“A growing and increasingly influential movement of philosophers, ethicists, law
professors and activists are convinced that the great moral struggle of our time will be for
the rights of animals… So far the movement has scored some of its biggest victories in
Europe. Earlier this year, Germany became the first nation to grant animals a constitutional
right: the words ”and animals” were added to a provision obliging the state to respect and
protect the dignity of human beings. The farming of animals for fur was recently banned in
England. In several European nations, sows may no longer be confined to crates nor laying
hens to ”battery cages” — stacked wired cages so small the birds cannot stretch their
wings. The Swiss are amending their laws to change the status of animals from ”things” to
”beings.” Click here for entite article

FAST FACTS:
Acres of land needed to produce food for a meat-eater: 3.25 acre
Acres of land needed to produce food for a vegan: 1/6 acre

Now, don’t stop reading and get insulted, thinking that we are trying only to ‘turn you vegan!’ This is
simply not the case! We want to help save the planet and we know the facts about this awful industry.
Helping the planet and protecting your family’s health can only benefit you! Simply cutting down on
your consumption of meat is a significant help to the world, and to animals.

According to Environmental Defense, “if every American skipped one meal of chicken per week
and substituted vegetarian foods instead, the carbon dioxide savings would be the same as
taking more than a half-million cars off U.S. roads.”

“The livestock business is among the most damaging sectors to the earth’s increasingly scarce
water resources, contributing among other things to water pollution from animal wastes,
antibiotics and hormones, chemicals from tanneries, fertilizers and the pesticides used to spray
feed crops.” (Taken from the UN report; Click here for entire article)

Male chicks are of no economic
value to the egg industry.
These chicks pictured left were
found dead and dying in a
dumpster behind a hatchery.
Typically they are gassed or
just ground up alive.

Living their entire lives
in what are called
battery cages, these
chickens don’t have
enough room to turn
around or even spread
their wings, and THEY
NEVER WILL, NOT
FOR THEIR WHOLE,
MISERABLE LIVES.

Sensitive and intelligent beings, pigs are treated as
nothing more than machines on factory farms. This
pig has collapsed in a pool of his own vomit.
Do you think “free-range”
chickens are better off?

“Just one hog farm in Utah, for example, produces more sewage than the city of Los Angeles.
These megafarms are proliferating, and in populous areas their waste is tainting drinking water.
In more pristine regions, from Indonesia to the Amazon, tropical rain forest is being burned down
to make room for more and more cattle. Agriculture is the world’s biggest cause of deforestation,
and increasing demand for meat is the biggest force in the expansion of agriculture.” (Time.com;

News: We would like to thank and hug every one of you for making this video Youtube video of the year!

—————————————- ——-
Sometimes, a hug is all that we need. Free Hugs is the real life controversial story of Juan Mann, a man whose sole mission was to reach out and hug a stranger put a smile on their face.

In this age of social-disconnection most all of us lack that simple human touch from another, the effects of the Free Hugs Campaign are now felt around the globe.

As this simple gesture of kindness and hope spread across the city, police and officials ordered the Free Hugs Campaign BANNED. What we then witnessed was the true spirit of humanity as people came together in what can only be described as something awe inspiring.

In the spirit of the Free Hugs Campaign please pass this video to a friend and HUG a stranger! After all, you CAN make a difference.

Music by Sick Puppies. Their album was release on April 3rd and is titled “Dressed Up As Life”. http://sickpuppies.net

—————————————- ———

The response to this video has been nothing short of overwhelming and touching. Hugs to every single one of you who messaged. There has been thousands of emails from all over the world from people seeking to participate in the Free Hugs Campaign and asking for permission. You don’t need permission. This is the people’s movement, this is *your* movement. With nothing but your bare hands you CAN make a difference.

Millennium Promise

Our Vision
End extreme poverty worldwide by 2025.

Our Mission
The mission of Millennium Promise is to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) – eight globally endorsed objectives that address the many aspects of extreme poverty – in Africa by 2015. To that end, Millennium Promise works with impoverished communities, national and local governments, and partner organizations to implement high-impact programs aimed at transforming lives on the continent and engaging donor nations, corporations, and the general public in the effort. Our work is premised on the belief that, for the first time in history, our generation has the opportunity to end extreme poverty, hunger, and disease.

Our Projects
Our flagship initiative, the Millennium Villages, now operating in 80 villages across 10 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, takes a comprehensive approach to addressing extreme poverty. By combining the best scientific and local knowledge, Millennium Villages address all the major problems simultaneously — hunger, disease, inadequate education, lack of safe drinking water, and absence of essential infrastructure — to assist communities on their way to self-sustainable development. The project is already producing remarkable results. Read more about the Millennium Villages and how you can help here.

Millennium Promise also plays a leading role in mobilizing the private sector to find solutions to key problems that contribute to extreme poverty in Africa , like malaria, which kills between one and three million Africans a year. Millennium Promise is a founding partner of Malaria No More, an initiative launched at the December 2006 White House Summit on Malaria that seeks to galvanize corporations, foundations, faith-based groups, grassroots networks, and the public to support a comprehensive approach to controlling the deadly, yet preventable disease. Read more about Malaria No More and donate a life-saving insecticide-treated bed net here.
Millennium Promise is a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status.
